JUST RELEASED: the brand NEW UK 2019 Peter Rabbit 50p coin that collectors have been hoping for!

2016 marked the 150th anniversary of Beatrix Potter’s birth and to celebrate such a literary icon and her prolific legacy, The Royal Mint issued a commemorative 50p coin depicting Beatrix Potter’s best-loved character; Peter Rabbit.

The response to this commemorative release was incredible, inspiring a new generation of coin collectors and breathing new life into aging collections. (I must admit, this was the first coin in my collection and will always hold a special place in my heart). The amazing response affirmed that the global popularity of Peter Rabbit was as strong as ever and that collector demand for Beatrix Potter memorabilia was at an all-time high!

Naturally, The Royal Mint knew that this would be the perfect collector coin series and released 3 subsequent annual Peter Rabbit 50p coins, making it one of the most highly sought-after coin series’ of all time!

There are few household names more cherished than the mischievous Peter Rabbit and whether you remember reading the original book ‘A Tale of Peter Rabbit’ as a child or, like me, thought the 2018 Peter Rabbit film was hilarious, Peter Rabbit holds a special place in the nation’s heart.

The Official 2019 Peter Rabbit 50p coin has literally JUST been released and here’s why you need it in your collection…

50p’s are more collectable than ever…

Beatrix Potter’s enduring popularity has stood the test of time and will remain to be one of the finest examples of British fiction of all time. From soft toys to the Silver Screen, Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit is sure to remain engraved in the world of fiction and the hearts of its readers for generations to come. As such, memorabilia commemorating Peter Rabbit is, and will remain to be, incredibly collectable.

What’s more, recent years have seen a surge in the demand for commemorative 50p’s with themes from popular culture taking centre stage! The Peter Rabbit series has been at the forefront of this collecting frenzy with almost every collector owning at least one of these iconic coins. Of course, for collectors who already own the 2016, 2017 and 2018 Peter Rabbit commemorative 50p’s, this is an absolute must-have but even for first time collectors, such a sought-after coin in a ground-breaking series is the perfect way to start!

A Sell-Out Sensation

Incredibly, the 2016, 2017 and 2018 Silver and Gold Proof Peter Rabbit 50p coins were so popular that they completely SOLD OUT at the mint in no time at all!

Ever since The Royal Mint announced that there would be a fourth Peter Rabbit commemorative 50p last week, collectors have been itching to secure it and it is looking like the Gold and Silver Proof version will join this sell-out series sensation!

That being said, unlike the previous Peter Rabbit commemorative 50p’s, there are no plans for the 2019 commemorative to enter circulation, meaning that you will not find it in your change! This may disappoint those of us who love to check our change for the latest designs but in terms of collectability, this is incredibly exciting as it means the 2019 version will be far more sought-after!

As well as Gold and Silver Proof, The Royal Mint have issued the coin in a Brilliant Uncirculated Strike, meaning it is free from the imperfections of circulation metal and giving it that additional collector quality.
