When it comes to Royal Mail stamp issues, it doesn’t get bigger than STAR WARS. Following two enormous issues in 2015 and 2017, Royal Mail have literally just released the final 10 stamps in the series and I am so excited to show you them…
But first, why STAR WARS?
Well, you might not know that the original trilogy of films was made at Elstree and Shepperton Studios in the UK, with a British crew whose expertise were held in such high regard that Lucasfilm and Disney decided to return to the UK for the final trilogy, filmed at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
The brilliance of the British studios and crews involved have contributed to the success of the Star Wars seriesand these stamps celebrate the British contribution to one of great masterpieces in film history.
And, why now?
If you’re a Star Wars fan, you won’t need me to tell you that this Christmas, the epic Skywalker Saga, spanning over 40 years, will conclude with Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. To mark the release of the brand-new film and the end of a cinematic era, Royal Mail have issued 30 stamps over the last 4 years celebrating the legendary characters we have come to know and love.
Your favourites, as you’ve never seen them before…
The new-issue stamps include Lando Calrissian, whose legacy includes losing the incredible Millenium Falcon to Han Solo in a game of sabacc, Darth Maul, renowned for his head horns and tattooed face and Queen Amidala, a skilled diplomat and fighter whose love, Anakin Skywalker, fell to the dark side.
This is just a glimpse into the complex characters celebrated within the latest release, topping an already incredible series featuring legends Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Yoda and Princess Leia (to name just a few).
Significantly, the designs are original illustrations by renowned artist Malcolm Tween who has blended an authentic character profile with a background scene to create a striking, hyper-realistic montage.
So how can you own them?
One of the most limited ways to own all 30 stamps…
The Ultimate Star Wars Framed Edition
We know that no fan or collector will be happy without the complete series. So, we have taken the official Royal Mail Collector Sheet and created an exclusive framed edition, limited to just 1,995 worldwide.
Importantly, the collector sheet has been postmarked with the first day of issue of the latest stamps – 26th November 2019 – with the iconic silhouette of Luke Skywalker framed within the unmistakable Darth Vader helmet.
For collectors, first day of issue stamps are the most sought-after of all, with only a small number ever postmarked with this important date.
Just 1,995 of these collector sheets have been postmarked with the first day of issue, hand-mounted and beautifully framed within a classic black frame. That makes this one of the rarest and most remarkable presentations of the entire series.
With Christmas just around the corner, secure one of these for the Star Wars fan in your life while you still can! Or better still, secure one for yourself and make your collection stand-out!
