Who is King Arthur?
King Arthur is a legendary British king, and although historians can’t confirm his existence, some speculate that he was a real warrior who led British armies against Saxon invaders in the 6th century. He became popular in works such as Le Morte D’Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory in 1485 and has remained a common character in today’s television shows, films, novels, and comic books.
The legend of King Arthur and the Sword in the Stone
Some believe that The Excalibur was the sword King Arthur pulled out of the stone to claim his right to the throne of Britain. Excalibur means ‘cut-steel’ and it is attributed with magical properties. Supposedly, it was formed with the heat from dragon-fire…
The sword served him well until the scabbard, the sword cover, which was supposedly magical in nature, went missing. After this, he was defeated in battle and fearing his death, Arthur gave Excalibur to his Knight, Sir Bedivere to keep.
The Supersized Sword in the Stone Commemorative
Paying tribute to the king, this massive 100mm diameter commemorative weighs in at nearly half a kilogram. Its sheer size is perfect to show off the intricate detail of the reverse design which shows young Arthur triumphantly pulling the sword out of the stone.
It comes inside a beautiful black presentation box which allows the Supersize commemorative to stand, and a passage of scripture from the legend of The Sword in the Stone sits behind it.
